Miramar in white rock has first 90 minutes free. I find that works well.

It is absurd they charge for parking at a MALL. This is the only mall I've been to where they charge to park. Don't they want to encourage people to come and spend more money?

Not sure if anything has changed, but the last time I was at Brentwood the only area of paid parking was in the new underground parkade. The upper parking lot outside was free, and the parking lot to the east required you to register but offered something like 3-4 free parking. I wonder if the new paid parking and the registration requirement in the east lot is to discourage skytrain park-and-goers?

It is a transit-oriented mall. If they provide free parking, I am sure many transit riders will park there for free to take the skytrain going elsewhere. Metrotown is the same but that's a mall of a different era when North America municipalities favoured the automobile culture over anything else. The free parking culture is simply "grandfathered in".

"Don't they want to encourage people to come and spend more money?"
Exactly. They can also make money from you parking there.

I will say this. I have NEVER paid for parking at Brentwood and I've never received a ticket (and I always park underground). So for what it's worth, in my experience, they're not being strict about it. As Vin says, I think it's just to deter the transit riders. They will probably ticket you if they see the car there without payment for over a certain number of hours.

You assume it will since it's probably a good source of foot traffic to their stores. And there's no other Canada Post outlet in the mall either.

Probably not to scale, but the future LD location looks small on this plan (or is LL Bean downsizing?)
Did WeWork ever move into the podium of Tower 3? You'd think LD could have taken the ground floor unit there if it was big enough.
At least they didn't move to Gilmore Place.

is London Drugs moving temporarily so the mall can get demolished or whatever is happening?

As for Parking I usually park outside, I do often see tickets on cars out there, most people seem to ignore the signs I guess, but are the tickets enforceable?

Also, almost every mall I went to in Australia you had to pay for parking.

And is Suit Supply open yet?

Permanently moving so the mall can get redeveloped without a new mall.

It's pretty common practice to have paid parking with vendor parking reimbursement. Solves all your problems; Translink isn't validating any parking, and the mall wants you to buy things to validate parking. City Square and Marine Gateway are two off the top of my head here.

I think you would have to park there again and possibly get towed etc. if you don't pay for a parking violation on private property.

Reddit says June/July 2024 with some staff down in LA training this spring.

I've never paid either and I have never gotten a ticket. Cineplex Brentwood comes with free three hour parking. The rest of the mall is pretty boring so I can't see myself spending for than 1-2 hours there. I usually just go to the food court and do my rounds at the nike and H&M store.

Sporting Life store has a large section separated where they're opening a Golf Town location. A store within a store it seems.. they have a Golf Town sign outside. Same owner. There are multiple other Golf Town locations in the Lower Mainland.

does Sporting Life do well? It's always hushed when I go there. They have also dropped a lot of brands since they originally opened. Golf Town would help bring in more people.

Probably a good move. The Lower Mainland market is pretty niche regarding outdoorsy equipment that it would be hard for an outsider to enter the market (esp. at high price). curious if Decathlon can grab that market (on lower price).

Decathlon is the shiz. I followed the wife there (she's familiar with the brand from overseas) not expecting much and I was pleasantly surprised. 1/3 or sometimes even 1/4 of Lulu price for almost the same quality. Plus it's a one-stop shop. It's busy too. I've never seen Sportcheck (how are they even alive anymore) or Sporting Life that busy.

Decathlon is everywhere in Asia, but I never went.

Recently, I had to grab some outdoor stuff for a job and went to the Decathlon in Metrotown. I was impressed. Amazing selection and prices.

Decathlon is smart about tailoring to their market as well. The one I originally went to in Marseille focused heavily on scuba and ocean-related stuff whereas here I saw more typical BC activities. The website has a broader selection of items beyond whatever your local store might cater to.
