I see many YouTube videos and stories in the news about how many places if theft is under $1000 or so the police will do nothing about it and people know this and go shopping for free.

Many stores in New York have closed up mainly post-covid, a few much lauded Target stores in NYC have just closed up in the city leaving some newly built shopping centres near empty. San Francisco's Westfield mall is near empty, Nordstrom pulled out due to the crime.
It is time Canadians stop aping the worst of America. Start cracking down hard on this type of crime like the rest of the deveoped world.
