I had an event at the Four Seasons not that long ago, and it looked to me from inside that the Spanish Plaza fountain had already been rehabbed. There was a pretty intricate lighting system going on it, but maybe that masked unfinished work, so I can't be certain.

I've always been a proponent of Canal buildings getting residential space into upper floors partly because I'm convinced that will drive upgraded ground-floor retail over time. Even with hotels and short-term rentals, I think there will be a benefit to retail along Canal. I hope there are more projects like the Mayfair, and more apartments and condos too.

I'm not aware of anything being done with the fountain. They just re-did it, but they rarely turn it on.

If you squint, you can see the cranes on top of 1010 Common to the left of the statue:

And here's the condos that were built behind Plaza Tower. I believe there will be retail in the existing piece that faces Howard:

I drove past it and I'm pretty sure I saw pilings and other signs of active construction.

I noticed multiple construction workers going in and out of charity today. Not sure if they are just grabbing old equipment that was left or whether work has commenced again...

Nice! Permit was approved back in June. This is the reconstruction of the Karnofsky Tailor Shop that was destroyed in Hurricane Ida:

Construction begins on first New Orleans Trader Joe's. Here's when it is set to open.

Construction has begun on the Tulane Avenue site where California-based Trader Joe's, the quirky, budget-friendly food retailer with a bohemian image, is expected to open its first Orleans Parish store next year.

while any progress is good progress, seems at the moment they will just be stripping the lot, I dont recall seeing test pilings with the weight to determine what spacing and how many they need. that takes some time waiting on that

Speaking of Howard Avenue, this new website by GNOInc shows street activity ahead of the Super Bowl and lists the Howard Ave and Julia Street extensions. I hope this is the same plan that was discussed years ago to reconnect those streets to the Superdome and develop those lots into something useful. https://nolastreets.info

Hopefully more green space or maybe something akin to a tail gate park.

Is there anything going on / planned for where the Rex house was? I was pretty upset when it burned down and just haven't been down that way in a while or at least when I was in a condition to look and see what was happening there.
