The glow from the lighting features across the street gives this a nice glow. More of this please! Although it seems like at least one random light is always spazzing out when I'm around.

Pretty nice from street level. I like the podium materials and articulation. Lighting is great too. Someone mentioned they added lighting to Moon (beyond the LED strips up the tower). Is it similar to this?

Nice. I guess Metro at Royale will open before the Metro at Moon (even though Moon was completed much earlier).

And agreed, more lighting please! I hope the strips of missing materials on that corner tower will be just that, LED strips or something.

Agreed it will be great to have it back though imho the Loblaws on Rideau vastly improved during the time Metro was closed. The area has really degnerated over the years. Hope they have a good security plan.

Things... n stuff...

So it seems like a lighting feature in the two vertical strips of the western tower is likely, given that just about every other spot of the building is either filled in or framed.

One day I will plan my walks around proper lighting.

Oh hey.. look.. density in the core!

I dunno. Moon maybe came off a little better. Comparable for sure. Suddenly CP 1-4 doesn't look so bad. If only they used stone for the podium and coping/parapet!

According to Claridge, some rental units are ready for move-in.

Podium's decent, but it's like the towers were designed to block maximum light. They look horrible too. A lighter cladding (like, maybe if they stuck with the buff brick) might have helped make the area look a but brighter.

I think I prefer CP towers now, but this has the better street level presence.

Agreed on all counts - it's pretty sad that the city's so comfortable in maximum concrete jungle/minimum views of the sky along this corridor. Will look pretty depressing if we take this trend to its logical conclusion.

Let's please shift toward tall and skinny towers with human scale podiums!

I just can't see that ever happening in the protected view cones. We are stuck with these monolithic slabs. The land is expensive, so it limits the ROI for developers. The only hope for the Eastern portal of the core skyline is to build up around the view cones.

With so many units coming into Central Ottawa over the next 6 months I wonder what effect that will have? For example it may alter the number of homeless and addicts as they tend to avoid busy areas.

I see no evidence that busy areas are not prone to addicts and homeless.

I would agree with that. There are a few folks hanging around LRT stations in the downtown core but nothing like what you see in the Rideau, King Edward, Byward market area.

The Rideau LRT/Waller Mall area might be one of the busiest areas in the city and is an all day disaster and becomes a bit scary at night.

This being a rental and from the ads I am getting one that isn't super easy to fill with renters they might be able to lobby the city a bit more than condo owners are.
