Residential, yes.
But there is a very large crane at Dow's Lake for the hospital now, so that will fill in the gap until the next residential one goes up (hopefully soon).

Hoping the hospital spur even more development.

50-plus community the clemow

Get the best of life in the Glebe with The Clemow

Clemow is a 50-plus rental complex located in the heart of the Glebe, one of Ottawa’s most famous neighbourhoods. Located just south of downtown Ottawa and bordered by the Rideau Canal, Dow’s Lake and the Queensway, the Glebe is a quaint, charming area.

While it’s best known for its Victorian-style homes, farmers’ market, lively year-round celebrations and plethora of hip eateries, chic wine bars and funky shops, it’s about to become known for one more thing: being the home of The Clemow.

The Clemow is an apartment complex with lots of pluses, and it aims to redefine what 50-plus living can look like for the Ottawa community.

The Clemow’s location is ideal due to its closeness to Highway 417, which provides easy access to any part of the city, as well as its proximity to The Ottawa Civic Hospital and the new Ottawa Hospital Campus. Dow’s Lake is just 500 metres away from The Clemow, which is less than 10 minute walk. Whether you want to enjoy a scenic walk along the Rideau Canal, or do some skating during the winter or canoeing during the summer, both bodies of water are a major draw for residents.

A haven for foodies, The Clemow is also minutes from Little Italy, Bank Street and Lansdowne, all of which boast their own one-of-a-kind coffee shops, specialty stores, authentic restaurants and more. If you are not in the mood to drive to your destination, The Clemow will have a shuttle once a week to go to groceries and other shops.

“The Clemow allows you to be at the centre of it all, to easily have access to everything the area has to offer as well as easy access to the rest of the city,” says Suzanne Cyr, a leasing adviser for KTS Properties, about the idyllic location south of downtown Ottawa.

“Additionally, the fact that you’re experiencing everything with like-minded, 50-plus individuals as neighbours makes it easier to get to know the area and create a sense of community as part of the collective, as well as your own personal, at-home lifestyle.”

Embracing the life that you want will be easy at The Clemow, where the variety of 50-plus residents combined with the abundance of amenities will facilitate the joys of daily living.

“It was important for us to create a building where residents felt at home and could also invite friends and family over for visits, or even more formal family gatherings,” explains Muhammad Talha, Clemow’s leasing director.

The Clemow is an innovative rental apartment and a lifestyle-focused project for the 50-plus. It includes over 20,000 sq. ft. of amenities, which include an indoor pool, steam and sauna facilities, a gym and a fitness room, a kids’ space, and multiple activity and gathering areas. It’s also pet friendly offering a small dog park on 17th floor terrace.

The project also has an indoor golf simulator, an activity room with a billiards table, a hobby room and a cinema. A community garden, library and fireplace will also be available to residents.

“In spring and summer, residents will have access to the terraces on the fourth and 17th floors that include a barbecue area for organized events as well as your own gatherings. There is also a big party space with a kitchen that can be rented. Sleepovers with the grandkids are welcome too, and the little ones will find their space in the kids’ area,” continues Talha.

The Clemow will also offer some activities included in the rent such as aquafit, yoga or other group fitness classes. A unique perk of living at Clemow is the Lifestyle Concierge, who will be in charge of organizing these activities and community events such as Happy Hour, musical evenings or cooking classes. The Lifestyle Concierge is also there to assist tenants with anything they may need, whether it be help ordering groceries or arranging for dry cleaning.

Each unit has a modern, open-concept floor plan and floor-to-ceiling windows that provide incredible views of the surrounding areas. Ranging in size from studios to two-bedroom units, all the apartments have an in-unit washer and dryer, centralized air conditioning and quartz countertops. Many of the apartments also include pantries, wine fridges and a balcony.

Clemow has a leasing office fitted with a true-to-size model unit and common area that you can walk through to get a better idea of what the building and unit will look like.

Additionally, the developers have invested in a 3D software that allows you to choose a particular unit that you are interested in to do a virtual walkthrough and see the actual view you would have. There is also a setting to adjust the light from dawn until dusk, so you know what kind of sunlight you would get.

For more information about The Clemow, the 50-plus rental apartment located at 275 Carling Ave., or to book a visit, go to theclemow.com or call 613-801-2491.

I think that this building, while bigger and taller than everything in the immediate area, it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb...I think it's a decent height for the area...

I wonder how it will look when the exterior begins to be installed...
