Thai Express in the Granite Centre apparently opens on May 15th.

I believe that people from Dieppe and Riverview would be more prone to use a Metro downtown than driving out to the north end. For one thing, the north end traffic seems to getting worse all the time.

Metro would surely be an excellent addition to the downtown core. Thoughts?
Isn’t there supposed to be an urban format grocery store on podium of the Infinity building? That would be a good spot for a Metro, no?

New pizza place open in the former Zio's location. Not Baci's, only the former Zio's section. I'll give it a try later this week.

I don't think anything has been determined yet for the commercial spaces, maybe an urban format grocery store would work. Especially if the Irving land next door would be developed with another large residential tower.

One of the renderings showed a sign above the door for the commercial space saying "Main Street Grocery". So it shows they are eyeing a grocery store tenant for the ground floor.

I would like to see this as a new to market store. Be it a Metro or another company’s branded store.

I hope this pizza is good, Moncton isnt exactly known for its pizza. The business gives me a weird vibe online with all of their AI created advertising, but I'm willing to give it a try.

Hit up Tide & Boar (West Main) for their Detroit style pizzas and garlic fingers. Yum.

The new (relocated) Ardene store at Wheeler Park is now open.

This clears the deck for renovations for Laura and Melanie Lyne to commence

Thai Express at CF Champlain is currently closed.

This is abrupt, and without notice. I have no idea if this is temporary or permanent.

if permanent, this CRU, and a couple of adjacent vacant (but hidden) CRUs could be combined and make an excellent location for Five Guys. This would mirror the existing Five Guys setup at the Avalon Mall in St. John's (mall based, at a major mall entrance, with an external entryway for after hours access).

The Granite location just opened today. Probably not a coincidence. Weren’t they initially moving from CF to Granite before changing their mind?

Apparently different franchisees.

Thai Express is no longer listed on the CF Champlain mall map. This closure therefore appears permanent.

A golden opportunity for Five Guys, if they are interested

The most recent anticipated opening date for Villa Madina in the food court at CF Champlain is estimated to be early June.

This is about six months late.............

No really retail but there isn’t a thread for the industrial parks, but there is a rather large expansion of the Napa wherehouse on St. George Blvd.

I was out and about earlier today, doing a little sleuthing, and noticed a building permit affixed to the door of the CRU under construction next to the H&R Block in the Petitcodiac Plaza across from Champlain Place.

It had been assumed that this unit was being fitted up for the rumoured Stacked Pancake House coming to Dieppe, but the building permit said something about "bubble tea."

I mentioned this to a retail sleuth friend of mine, and, a contact of his found out that Presotea, on their website, mentions that Moncton is "coming soon" for the summer of 2024. I imagine this is what is in the works.

https://www.presotea.ca/
https://www.presotea.ca/our-drinks/ (menu)

The menu is very extensive and filled with multiple exotic drinks. The selection seems far better than Chatime. I look forward to trying this out.

Meanwhile, the Stacked Pancake House website still lists franchises coming for the Petitcodiac Plaza, and for the Plaza Boulevard Centre in Moncton. They must be planning on occupying a different vacant CRU in Petitcodiac Plaza. There is no timeline that I am aware of.

Finally, the CRU where Meltwich is coming is filled with equipment awaiting installation. There seems to be a big hold-up in getting final installation work done around the city these days. This has been an issue with Villa Madina in CF Champlain and apparently also with the soon-to-be-resurrected Zio's Pizzeria in Moncton. Delays in installation have also plagued several new businesses in the Granite Centre. We obviously need more contractors in the city..........

So, in summary, there are three new food options coming to the Petitcodiac Plaza
- Stacked Pancake House
- Meltwich
- Presotea

I look forward to all these new arrivals. They all look very interesting.

Construction hoarding has gone up around the remainder of the Sport Chek location at CF Champlain. It would appear that in addition to the store expansion, they are also going to do a complete facadectomy. Given this, I'm sure that a complete interior renovation is coming too.

I've never been to Chatime, but is Moncton ready for a Presotea drink costing $8, $9, $10 and $11 + tax + tip?

My pizza review on a $15(tax in), 12" pepperoni pizza: Very bland. rating 4.5 out of 10. Won't be going for seconds. Too many other better pizzas in town.
