Ardene signage has gone up for the soon-to-be-relocated store in Wheeler Park where Nygard used to be.

The soon-to-be-former MAC space at CF Champlain is already leased! There is a rumour it may be a jewelry store.

Wondering if it's possibly Griffin Jewellery Designs?

They are in the other bigger Atlantic malls, (Halifax Shopping Center, Mic Mac Mall, McAllister Place and Regent Mall). Currently Avalon Mall and CF Champlain are left to see them.

So the latest chatter is that Rona will be tenant taking over the former Cabelas building. According to talk at Retail Talk and Share the source is apparently solid.

Seems there are competing sources for both Rona and Metro in terms of who gets to take over the old Cabelas.

I'm personally leaning a bit more to Metro. It will be interesting to see how this plays out over the upcoming few weeks.

I could see Rona, but I am sure that somewhere they mentioned this was to be a national retailer, that is new to Atlantic Canada. If it were Rona, that wouldn’t really fit that narrative. Though maybe I am just dreaming.

Yeah there's a Rona in cocagne. They also have almost 500 locations which didn't match the description and the stores are closer to 100k sq ft not 50k but that's easy to fix

Well, more sources are starting to come out of the woodwork, and, it appears increasingly likely that the Cabela's is destined to become a Rona.

Kind of disappointing, thought it would be a great location for a grocery store and a great time for some more competition in the area. I wonder where Metro would look to now.

If they DO come to Moncton, then I think somewhere near Home Hardware/Casino is the obvious choice. For the population in the north end, a grocery store makes perfect sense there.

It would make a great location for a grocery store, but, the most desirable property (adjacent to the TCH next to the Home Hardware) was purchased long ago by Sobeys. They may eventually be planning on building out there, but, in the meantime, by owning the land, they are effectively blocking any competitor from setting up shop.

I was thinking about where Metro could set up shop in Moncton. There's 2 possible locations that come to mind. The north end of course - it's been a population growth area of the city.

But what about downtown? The reason I suggest this is because it would nicely service Riverview, and even Dieppe. I believe that people from Dieppe and Riverview would be more prone to use a Metro downtown than driving out to the north end. For one thing, the north end traffic seems to getting worse all the time.

Metro would surely be an excellent addition to the downtown core. Thoughts?

I think a Metro would do well in the base of one of the Three Sisters.

Too small there. Only up to 12,582ft² of commercial space at the Three Sisters. https://www.spacelist.ca/listings/793703/nb/moncton/for-lease/office-retail/49_foundry_street

The Three Sisters would be a fantastic location for a smaller urban format food market.

I don’t think we should be talking about putting another full fledged supermarket downtown. They eat up too much land. We should be concentrating on increasing density.

Farmboy is one I’d love to see. I don’t know if that will happen anytime soon, but it would be a good addition, or even Pete’s adding a third location outside their Halifax and Bedford ones. Again these are dream and probably not something we will see anytime soon.

Pete’s could go downtown in a podium somewhere.

There's a large parking lot on Main St. that used to be the auto haul away site years ago. on the south side of Main, just west of Vaughan Harvey.

On the fringe of the downtown core so it wouldn't take up land better used for residential densification.

Close proximity to the causeway bridge/Wheeler, as well as the Gunningsville bridge and V. Harvey. Also basically abutting the west end.

It's a huge piece of land coated in asphalt that really needs to be developed.
