Anything Federal has become an inconsistent snails pace of releases.
Environment Canada said that the 1990 to 2020 weather averages would be released in spring 2023 (already years late compared to other developed nations). The first batch of around 100 were finally released in I believe October last year. Subsequent batches were “soon to follow.” I thought that meant perhaps in the following weeks as maybe they were tweaking some following stations… it’s now May 2024… nothing new has been released… this is beyond regular government incompetence.
Also of note, they are only doing about 1/3 of of the weather stations for the 1990 to 2020 stars that they did for the 1989 to 2010 stats. So even when complete (2026 at this rate??) expect some of your favorite stations to not be updated, including some rather large towns.
I can’t help but feel mismanaged finds into over bloated Human Resources departments and useless special interest positions is part of what is causing this joke.
