Lol, I meant more so that if the combined funds allocated to marginally beneficial roads project were continually invested into transit instead (where those same funds would go a lot further) we could've had a much more comfortable transit network (e.g. more protective bus shelters and more of them in general, and enclosed, climate-controlled O-Train stations. Maybe more escalators too. Oh and maybe regular cleaning of transit vehicles and stations... ok now I'm really asking for too much

I saw the impossible this morning. Four trains between South Keys and the Brookfield siding. A Flirt train southbound at South Keys, southbound at Greenboro and a double Lint southbound at Brookfield. This is not possible in regular service. There was also a single Lint arriving north bound at South Keys, no doubt a test train for the airport spur. We are getting a little closer. But no further work at the south branch stations probably until spring at least outdoor work. There may be work going on inside the stations, but you can't get close enough to tell.

There's nothing really to be done in the stations. It's just landscaping work that's remaining, which can't be done until the spring

The simple shelters on line 2 are fully enclosed and heated, unlike the elaborate ones on line 1. Careful what you wish for

Are the bus station shelters going to be heated? This is where it is needed the most when people have long waits for buses.

Sadly and predictably the bus shelters they've installed so far are not. So you'll be warm waiting the 12 minutes for the train but not the 30 minutes for the bus I'm guessing

All train and bus loop platforms will have heating in the transecure shelters (one on each platform), while the remaining standard shelters on the platforms will have electrical rough-ins to easily add heating in the future. The only shelters that won't have heating are the on-street shelters, such as those at Gladstone and Walkley.

Are they giving testing updates anywhere? Is April still possible or are we looking at Summer/Fall?

Can't believe how long this was closed for such a small project

If only we had the billions of $ and cheap labour that Qatar had before the WC. 76km of pristine segregated rail built in less than 5 years!

I live pretty close by. Depending on the day, you will see multiple trains on the tracks or you see none. The last time I was out at Riverside South, there were just pickups on the tracks. I have not seen any real life testing, although I hear that the most testing takes place at night.

There is still work to be done for public access to the stations especially in the south. This will happen when spring arrives. It is hard to say how close to completion that work is.

I think an April opening is off the table, the last I heard.

One would hope that once the system has passed the tests, that the line could open.

If a station bathroom or some landscaping around Leitrim station isn't complete, hopefully they don't delay the opening of the entire line for that!

I bought a condo unit in 2018 next to the Trilium line excited about the future. 5-6 years later, I've moved out and the line isn't even open yet.

If we ever get to double tracking, there will be another major closure. I have already lived through 18 years of disappointment relating to this line. Jim Watson liked the Chevrolet analogy, but this Chev is almost 23 years old and has already been patched up a number of times.

OC Transpo officials say the north-south Trillium Line could hit yet another delay, with the timeline for opening being potentially extended into the summer.

Councillors have been told in a slide presentation on Stage 2 construction on late Tuesday afternoon that OC Transpo is giving themselves a wider timeline than had been previously announced with an opening day potentially being in September.

A slide says the transit authority's period for handover could be between April and June, with passenger service happening sometime between May and September, but a firm date had not been given. Officials had previously said the window for passenger service would be between March and June.

Transit services general manager Renée Amilcar had said the anticipated opening date would be in "spring of 2024" in recent months.

Construction for the Trillium Line was originally scheduled to be completed in August 2022, but was delayed until September 2023. On Sept. 29, Amilcar said that based on the progress to date, a fall launch was no longer possible and would be delayed again.

This could mean the Trillium Line would open a full two years behind schedule. This would be the third major delay.

Trial running isn't even expected to begin for another month, so you might be reading a little too much into that at this point.

I've seen lots of trains stopped at the Carling station before going both north and south over the past couple of weeks.

FWIW I've seen lots of trains running at Limebank station. Probably most days in the past week there's been trains coming in and out periodically. It really seems to me like the stations are mostly ready and the trains are certainly running.
