I know this is not a 'political' thread, and I prefer it to stay that way. Having said that, I am going to make a huge assumption that most readers of this thread are likely in support of...or at least lean to supporting...the DEED.
I have been reading an increase in "letters to the editor" of Star Phoenix criticizing the DEED and strongly opposing moving forward on this. As the election of a new mayor and council is coming up, I think it important for those who have maybe chosen to be silent on this subject to begin expressing valid arguments of support. Not just an opinion, but provide those opposed with rationale economic, cultural and social reasons to support this progressive build for Saskatoon.
Maybe I am alone in my thinking on this, but as I have expressed previously on this post, I am likely of an age where the direct benefits to me personally may be limited, but that does not prevent me from seeing the incredible opportunity and impact this could make for our beautiful city.
So...given that council could change...I think it is not only important to share your opinion with your city councilor, but also to start publicly expressing support (through traditional and social media venues). Time for the "other side" to be heard!
If you are looking for some information to support the DEED, this may be a good place to start:
