Hopefully they get some better lighting to animate that corner. It's always been so dead even with the massive pink wall for VS.

Virgin was the worst - it was just walled off display windows.
Then HMV opened them up.

Ron.
No wonder they are taking it down to shell space!
If it's like the NYC store, there'll be bare concrete and exposed conduits everywhere.
At least it looks like they created some areas with lowered ceilings, so maybe there's a hope for a new mezzanine to counter the cavernous warehouse look.

PriceSmart at City of Lougheed opens this Thursday, Jan 25. Excited to see what it offers. More convenient location than T&T

OK, so today I learned that Lougheed Town Centre is now "City of Lougheed" and has apparently been so for quite some time...

What were they thinking of with that name?

"Lougheed Town Centre" is the name of the municipal town centre as well as the SkyTrain Station. The mall used to be "Lougheed Mall".

Multiple parties (ie City, Developer) probably wanted some differentiation between the two, since Lougheed Town Centre isn't only the project developed by Shape. It's the whole regional town centre. Ditto for Brentwood.

It's the only one I know of called "City of ..."
Following on other projects, it could have been "Lougheed Mall", "Lougheed District", "Lougheed Park", "Lougheed Centre", "The Amazing Lougheed", ...

EDIT: There's "Central City" in Surrey, so this could have been "Lougheed City"

Primary tabs. Found almost exclusively in the legal term nolo contendere,
nolo means "I do not want" or "I do not wish" or "or I choose not" in Latin.

Stop making "City of Lougheed" happen, Burnaby. It's not going to happen.

Lougheed Mall was also rebranded as Lougheed Town Centre back in 2002, while the "City of" moniker seems to be from the late 2010s. They could have done better IMHO.

I feel the same way about those who insist on referring to the City of North Vancouver's Lower Lonsdale neighbourhood "LOLO".

Some stick some won't.
No one says "Metropolis at Metrotown" (do they?) - they say "Metrotown".
Same will apply to Brentwood and Lougheed.

Officially? No, but the Sun reported "The market is also still waiting for confirmation of what brands will move into the space left vacant in Pacific Centre by Seattle-headquartered retailer Nordstrom last year. That multi-level retail space remains empty, but Canadian retailer Simons is rumoured to be considering the space." And somebody said it on TikTok, (repeated by Retail Insider), so you know it must be true.

Besides the fact that it's just a rumour peddled by some two-bit "influencer", practically speaking, no Simons store is larger than about 100,000 sq ft. Park Royal and West Edmonton Mall are both that size. So I find it highly unlikely they would take all or even most of the 230,000-ish sq ft that Nordstrom vacated. If this is true, I'd expect we'd hear about some plan for subdivision and at least two other tenants going in that space.

Also, does Simons even have the capital to open a store of this scale without closing Park Royal? For example, I recall they had to solicit investor funding just to open a new distribution centre... the company historically was very stringent on remaining family-owned and privately held, so the possibility of further diluting their share of ownership just for the sake of being downtown, when they seem fine not being downtown in other major cities and have another store less than 5 km away? It seems very much counter to their business model. I'm skeptical it'll be Simons.

Oh interesting! Wonder if the space is already spoken for? Too small for Uniqlo. This ends almost 40 years of Club Monaco on Robson. First store was on the 1100 block where Roots is now.
