If you look at the tenant mix for The Well, it's largely food and beverage.
Shoppers Drug Mart, Indigo, Addidas, Sephora and Lululemon are the only big names.

Hollister in Pacific Centre has shut down.

Signs of renovations at The Hudson - perhaps for the rumoured Winners store to occupy the former Steve Nash upstairs?
(I don't think it's due to vandalism?) It makes sense that an escalator would be on the south end of the unit - it would have the shortest ceiling height. No lights on upstairs.
Pic by me today.

Nice!
Thanks.
December 2022 is when the Steve Nash Fitness World closed down.

So I wonder who will take over the 4th floor space.
I don't know how much space is up there (presumably full floor), I suppose it could be office space as there are offices above?

Sounds like basically a covered pedestrian street - stick a roof over Robson, and we'd more or less have the same thing.

Only seemed like it was originally two floors of offices? Then there are some live/work spaces in some higher levels as well.

There seems to be some garden listed on the the 4th level as well

All the units in the tower are live/work. It was part of the package to allow the residential tower in the CBD. I think 3 floors are commercial, with either office, retail (or the sports centre). There are roof gardens on the 4th and 8th storeys.

I see some curtains on the 4th level so maybe those are regular units?

EDIT: Some floorplan website has a bunch of regular units for the 4th floor.

Yes, because all Canadian cities are small in comparison.

Arc'teryx wins injunction against Adidas over Terrex outdoor gear store in Vancouver
Judge says potential confusion between signs on 2 stores in same Kitsilano block is 'immediately obvious'
Bethany Lindsay · CBC News · Posted: Jan 03, 2024

The Vancouver outdoor company Arc'teryx has won a temporary injunction barring Adidas from using the name "Terrex" on a Kitsilano store, in what a judge has described as a David vs. Goliath battle over trademark infringement.

Arc'teryx's parent company, Amer Sports Canada, filed suit against the international sports apparel giant last year over the signage on its West 4th Avenue store, alleging that Adidas was creating "consumer confusion" with its Terrex-branded shop.

Terrex opened a year ago, just a few doors down from Arc'teryx. Like Arc'teryx, it sells gear meant for outdoor activities like camping and hiking.

The Terrex logo on the sign, according to a new B.C. Supreme Court decision, is preceded by what Adidas calls its "performance bars" — the signature three stripes arranged in a triangle formation, resembling the letter "A."

We need good malls that cater well to the community. The Well does just that.

Vandalism or not, the storefronts at the Hudson/Bay area look horrible. Reminds me of DTES.

Seems similar to what they did at The Post, no?

For another building you'd have to convince the owners to kick out Microsoft and tear down the old Sears building.

I thought the Steve Nash was 3 floors, but maybe there was a mezzanine?

Word on the street is that Simons is taking two floors of the old Nordstrom at PC and Zara and Nike will fill the rest... not sure how confirmed it is but that's what I've heard being said.

I wonder if they keep Park Royal or dump it.

Seems like the source is some TikToker

i hope this is not true... very boring, outside of holt renfrew, downtown has the finest shopping found in the suburbs, with that said the places we all desire must be willing to take on the expense.

Population is definitely a factor, but I wonder what else is preventing Eataly from entering the market here considering they have a third location in toronto coming online. Could it be our regulatory environment as far as our liquor licensing goes. Restaurants are opening up grocery-esque stores that sell alcohol, I would think the big grocery operators are not too pleased with this workaround to our archaic rules.

In the Toronto location of Eataly you can buy beer, wine and spirits and also purchase a glass of wine/cocktail/beer to enjoy while you walk around shopping (similar to the US and international stores).

Seems like we're relaxing liquour rules as much as anywhere else these days. Granville Island did a liquour zone pilot project this year:

Could just be a TikToker making things up for views.

I would want to see Uniqlo in the mix, but other than that it sounds good. I like Simons but rarely make it across to Park Royal.

As for Zara, that likely opens their Robson space for someone else.

aren't the grocery stores in BC that sell wine and beer limited to only selling BC wines and beers?

would Zara close up their Robson location if the rumour was true?

Simons is the most natural replacement for Nordstrom, same clientele and expectations almost for the store. I'm sure they can find a way to make it a little more upmarket to serve the market that's been looking. Uniqlo would be a big downgrade from what it was.
