In 2022, during the election campaign, the Quebec Minister of Immigration, Jean Boullet, said this without blinking an eye:
« 80 % des immigrants s’en vont à Montréal, travaillent pas, ne parlent pas français ou n’adhèrent pas aux valeurs de la société québécoise.»
(“80% of immigrants go to Montreal, do not work, do not speak French or do not adhere to the values of Quebec society.”)
Disgusting. And he was re-elected, of course.

What is disgusting is your tactic, one very often done to discredit Québec in general (especially separatists). You take one declaration from a separatist, a very bad declaration and you make the person who said it all about that declaration. Then you extend that declaration to the whole party (usually the PQ but any party with even the littlest spark of Québec nationalism will do). So, since the whole party is, well, deplorable, then anything that is said about that party is fair since we just proved that it is a racist party and everyone in is is a racist too. Finally, if anyone else (individual or party) agrees with anything the officially racist party says (even if is it the slightest detail), then this person (or party) is also racist and you end up with something like 80 % of Québec being racist and fair game for insults and discredit.
Yes, Boulet's comments were stupid. Not merely misinformed, but stupid. But it was just a couple of sentences in a pretty decent 4 year tenure for him, and he is just one member of the CAQ. Leslyn Lewis of the Conservative Party is pro-life, therefore the whole party is against abortion. If you vote for the Conservative, then you are against abortion and against women. It might even be true even if you merely agree with any Conservative position. Straw man fallacy at its best...
The CAQ will get 50 000 to 60 000 permanent immigrants (after record years), not counting temporary ones, students and refugees. Not bad for a xenophobic party...
