From my flight this week, they are still cladding the north central node and doing stone pillars for the last extension of the north concourse.

They'll work into 2027 to extend the tunnel past the apron for future Concourse C.

After that they'll slowly work on prerequisite projects like moving the fuel depot and hangars. Expect things to move much slower once Concourse B is done, they'll be paying these bonds for some time. Assuming the generous growth estimations they should start on Concourse C sometime in the early 2050s.

I think it will happen in the 2030’s, early 40s at the latest. From what I’ve heard Delta intends on making SLC its #2 Hub. They will need more gates way before the 2050. The Delta expansion will also make SLC more desirable to other airlines… I predict a major time escalation on any 2050 time line prediction. I think we will be given some sort of timeline before the end of construction concourse B in 2027…. Although I expect everything on B to be done a bit ahead of schedule.

Very well said! I’ll believe it when I see it! Hope they start construction new concourse C in the future. We shall see what happens.

I can't help but think that once the 2034 Olympics are locked down the timelines will be sped up considerably.

The Delta inside rumor:
Phase 1. New SLC
Phase 2. Build a strong presence in salt lake (The Delta Center was part of that)
Phase 3. Corporate office expansion into salt lake and the establishment of SLC as #2 hub… (been a rumor for years.. but a lot of it has happened, so I don’t know?).


SLC Update:
A couple of random construction updates. They are adding some new seating on the west end of the Gateway Center (Rental car lobby). They have also removed the small Delta check-in desk and security check from level 1. Kind of a shame. It was handy.

The security area is on the other side of the wall, it’s used exclusively for I international to domestic connections (and crew access) and can’t be accessed by origination traffic.

The delta check in counters that used to be right at that spot have been expanded and moved down the hall a little further. I’m not sure what will go in this space to replace it.

Ahh ok, taking my first int'l flight from SLC in June and thought this was the less-crowded security entrance I could use. Guess not! haha

I flew out of the new east side of Concourse A last week and noticed something on the walk to my gate. There does not appear to be any place on the north side of the east concourse for an entrance to a tunnel to Concourse B. Was it just my imagination that there was supposed to be another small pedestrian-only tunnel on the east side mirroring the one on the west?

Nope. Just central tunnel. In fact, I believe the temp tunnel on the west side is supposed to be shuttered. I think

2. SLCDA has made the decision to keep the west tunnel permanently open.

Thanks for the quick answer. The asymmetry will always bother me, but I imagine most everyone will just use the central tunnel once it is complete.
