You don't get why a skyscraper forum is concerned with the way buildings look????!!

I think the originally proposed 35 floors would have gone a long way. Still can't believe the City rejected their 35 then when Claridge proposed 42, City was like "how about 45!"

It's an important part of a skyline. In the case of Icon, they took a fantastic design and botched it like champions.

Our politicians and city planners are not fixated enough on cladding and, as a result, we are getting 50-100 year scars all over our city. Nice to see a few of the recent projects are stepping up their game, though.

I had a thought walking by the other day. Despite the balcony railings more or less matching the much maligned configuration that we all love here I was feeling it. First.. its black and not silver. I thought it let you look right through the railings and see the skin of the building itself. I don't think a shaded/faded/fritted or however you wish to call it full coverage glass would have been a better look.

Just my two cents.

Because of the otherwise high quality design and materials, they could get away with it. Balconies aren't front and centre (like Icon or Moxy), and they blend it with the black.
