The announcement of the host for 2030 and 2034 is tentatively set for July 2024 right before the Paris Summer Olympics start.
SLC pushed against 2030 due to lack of sponsorships as L.A. has the 2028 Summer games and that is the focus for the USOC. Getting both 2030 and 2034 helps to cover some of the sponsorship loss. It also means the likelihood of a bigger Olympic investment from both the State and Feds.
We could see increased funding for transit infrastructure, maybe the Rio Grande Plan mostly paid for by the Feds. We will also see an increase in housing at the U, Olympic Village housing will become student housing.
It would also mean additional hotels and I would expect apartments for SLC as many athletes would move to the SLC area to train for both 2030 and 2034.
The economic impact of back to back Olympics is something that isn't really known yet as it hasn't happened in the modern era and to my knowledge, never for the Winter Games.
Exciting times are ahead if everything happens the way it looks to happen.
