I complied but that one returned an error of some sort and I advised the driver that one didn't work either.

He ignored me.

This tap card system is abhorrent. I've had multiple failures and I ride the system once or twice a month at most. Combine the failures with the ridiculous password force change and I suspect nobody will be using it within a year. The password force change, incidentally, apparently records your previous six passwords and won't let you re-use any of them. So users will default to "password1" through "password6" or some such iteration.

Abominable development team with absolutely no attention to convenience.
Very odd, I ride as much as you but haven't had nearly the amount of errors using the card (once for sure this year where the reader on the #9 bus didn't work). I also haven't had the forced password change yet, but it's definitely been 90 days since I've created my account, so not sure what's going on there.

That all being said, my experience with Arc has been fine so far and I prefer it to the paper tickets.

Yeah Arc has ben fine for me as well. There was one morning where I got an error that the card wasn't recognized but otherwise I've been using it on average a few times a week since November and that was the only time I had an issue. Definitely prefer it to having to keep track up/replenish tickets.

The latest time it didn't work (on a #6 bus out of Southgate) the operator helpfully suggested that the system needed to update each morning and that this may be why it was out of service.

What massive bridge compared to what was there. Hopefully the landscaping will provide some "cover".

More testing...

Valley Line Southeast train testing to resume downtown
August 23, 2023

TransEd, the builder and operator of the Valley Line Southeast LRT, anticipates train testing will resume downtown from the 102 Street stop to the Muttart stop later this week. Edmontonians will once again see trains running in the area.

We ask all Edmontonians to be mindful of their surroundings and obey all traffic signs and signals. Pedestrians are reminded to only cross at designated pedestrian crossings and to wait to cross the road and tracks only when it is safe to do so. As traffic signs indicate, right turns are not allowed on red lights at some intersections along the LRT alignment, and at some intersections, right or left turns are not permitted at any time. If you see tracks, expect a train.

Train testing was briefly paused in June when TransEd identified signalling cables that needed to be replaced along the alignment to improve long-term system reliability. In addition to the downtown area, cable replacement is also complete from Davies Station to the Mill Woods stop. Train testing resumed in this area last week. Line-wide testing will resume once all the new cables are installed.

The City and TransEd are working closely together, and more information about a potential opening date for Valley Line Southeast will be provided as testing nears completion.

Curious to see how the BRT 'Super Express' from Ledger to UofA works, timing and likely oversubscription.

Great to see though and certainly a nice option for many.

It almost makes one wonder why you'd want to replace the quick and effective 900X BRT with a slow-moving tramway. The express bus operator can even react in time if there's a homeless man sleeping along the route or a motorist turning the wrong way.

I'm going to bet not as many as the other. Completely shotgunning it but that's my position.

You're probably right. The pressure and microscope on all things construction related with the COE must be immense.

It also helps that Marigold is made up of completely different firms than TransEd, so that's something (at least).

There is no tunnel section or river crossing, but there is more elevated sections and an additional elevated station, in addition to bridges over the Henday and Groat Road, so complexity is likely simliar to VLSE I'd say.

I wish there was more. Or underpasses. At grade will be a gong show.

I'm still flabbergasted that an 'investigative reporter' has not taken this cluster and run with it.
