For reference the longest scheduled 733 flight (also operated by Canadian North) is 4h26m (Deer Lake to Winnipeg). CUN-YYC is ~6h.

Looks like my trip just got more interesting!
As someone who flies the NG and has friends at Canadian North, don't be surprised if you end up in Winnipeg for a fuel stop on your way home. The CUN-YYC flight is very tight for the 733. Both Transat and Canadian North are aware of this but don't seem all that bothered by it.

It's a comin ! Someone here at YUL ACC is on the ICAO comity in charge of implementing new procedures for RNAV approaches on parallel runways.

For a B733 to fly 3000 nm, it can't carry any payload. None whatsoever.

http://www.boeing.com/assets/pdf/commercial/airports/acaps/737.pdf

Page 90.

To carry 35,000 lb of payload, which is a full load of passengers and bags, the range goes down to 2250 nm. So the range listed on wikipedia is accurate. I used 140 passengers for my calculations, but dunno how may seats the 5T 733s have.

As outoftheice is saying....itsagonnabetight !

I can see them using the combi birds (less seats), either that or they will leave a few seats open on the full pax planes.

It would be weird to see them use the combi's due to the rear loading of passengers. Not an issue in Cancun, but having the passengers brave the apron at YYC after they've already changed into flip flops and tank tops will be interesting.

Well their website lists "average" range (whatever that is) at 2,400-2,600 nm so I guess I'll be fine, if not it will be a case of this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mdvr-4nYs5s

5T has winglets on some of its 733s. That will definitely come in handy. Should increase the range by some 100-200 nm.

Canadian North Combis have there own Drop down front stairs. when they are configured full passenger they use them at the smaller airports.

Lol. Remember to pack your Hawaiian shirt with you! Cancun is just a stretch in general. We operate the -800s into there and have to load restrict them to make CUN-YYC/CUN-YEG work. Even then we normally end up with a few diversions into Winnipeg when the winter jetstreams are at their strongest. On the plus side, it doesn't add as much time onto the flight as you would think... typically landing about an hour late when a fuel stop is needed.

I wouldn't be surprised if Canadian North also places load restrictions on the flights however I think the odds of diversions will be much higher. I wouldn't be surprised to see Canadian North either pick up -700s or Transat to go back to Enerjet after this winter season as a result.

Small victories but....

Condor has added back its third weekly seasonal YYC - FRA.

They had reduced to only two weekly, but have since reinstated the third.

It's probably one of the busy seasons for this route, two of my mates are heading back to London this week.

Is this with a full pax load or with a load restriction?

Indeed. No different than WS's ground loading operations where there are sun flights such as Hamilton.

Restricted. The airplane could physically fly it, having a payload is another mattter.

772 to the 333 is only a weekly loss of around 170 seats for the summer. What was the spring schedule like originally?

But compared to last summer YYC-AMS will still have more capacity Summer 2016.

Summer 2016: Now going to be a daily 333
Summer 2015: was 4 weekly 772 and 3 weekly 332

Even though equipment has been revised it is still more seats than last summer.

Spring also similar to last Spring.

YVR will be daily 772 (was daily 333 last summer) and YEG stays at 4 weekly 332 same as last summer.

Is there a possibility that we could see Cathay Pacific starting HKG-YYC with their A350's?

Head of Cathay for North America indicated yes. Few years off though.

Now that's a hub I'd like direct access to!
