There has been a delayed response from the city, not surprising, on the redevelopment of the Calvary Church and their 400 unit proposal. Apparently it was held up sittng on some administrators desk who is not there anymore. Say what!! A 400 unit development that would take a bite out of this cities rental vacancy issue sitting on some beaurocrats desk and going no place!!! GD they are so inept at city hall!!
So, the word according to the latest church release is that they have a confirmation from the city, they have an administrator looking at it, with BGI, the Toronto developer, making sure the paperwork is in order.
Better make this work and quick!! We need the housing!

Calvary Church Update
The city has a planner on this development now and they replied with a few concerns:
...... one of them had to do with the 55 plus affordable. Second one was related to the zoning that we currently have on the property. And the third one was related to the heights of the buildings.
I knew the height would be brought up!! Here we are trying to punch a hole in the rental vacancy issue and we have NIMBYs in city hall, where the heck did this planner come from?, who haven't come to realize that height helps density, and Jeff Lantz said it, that the urban density and height needs to change to accommodate this urgent rental issue. Ten floors isn't high!! We have buildings already that high! In fact a garbage building at the Riverside Dr is going to be as high. So we'll have a place for garbage ten stories high but not for people to live. Makes sense in this stupid city!
