Having lived directly beside the main downtown firehall in Victoria, yah it can be noisy and it is literally non-stop 24 hours per day, especially with the overdose crisis. That being said the units above the firehall have no balconies, they will have far better soundproofing than my place ever had. Also they will do their daily ladder truck testing, chain saw testing, and all that noisy stuff at other locations. Not sure if the fire department is that pleased with the arrangement, but they do get a building that can withstand a massive earthquake.
