Unless the station is unable to process all the passengers before the next train arrives, or the trains leave people behind... wouldn't it be the same if the same 2-car trains runs at 2m headway instead of 3m10s?

And even if 3-car trains are used (+50% capacity) and stations are fully expanded (+25% capacity), the stations are only going to get 20% more crowded.
