Expropriations and demolitions on Rideau Street would defeat the purpose of building LRT on the corridor. The whole point would be to revitalize the corridor, and having a dead zone on the south side of Rideau would destroy the street.
Cummings Bridge was originally built to accommodate streetcars. A parallel bridge for trains would destroy the appearance of this heritage bridge.
