It's not typical. There's nothing typical about curtain wall. Seems like there are a lot of spandrel sections.

Even a properly installed curtainwall will shift over time.
There will be framed wall sections and some non curtain wall portions from the information I have seen. That said, it is a very odd approach at the moment.

Hard to say though given the below versus what we are seeing.
