In this day and age, I would have guessed that firms such as yours would want to appear to be fully invested in such an endeavour.

It really depends on the tenant, as the costs for such an endeavor need to passed down to someone. Governments and public institutions seem to be the first ones ones jumping on this, other companies like Encana don't appear to see the value in a LEED certified building.
And believe me, there is no such thing as a LEED 'equivalent' without the corresponding documentation and testing.
