pudong's a boring place. not because of inherently bad planning, and certainly not because of its architecture. it's boring because it's a work in progress.

it certainly isn't houston either. it's half-finished and sterile and full of pedestrian-unfriendly gaps. but it certainly won't be some bizarro automobile-dominated place. the density and public transit (of the finished neighborhood) will make it functional.

pudong, dubai, and all these other grandiose yet incomplete places shouldn't be judged just yet. it will take some time before these places become holistic functioning, entities.
