Well I assume I'm no more of a fan of surface parking lots than you are, but if the current state of the building isn't much better than garbage, it'll have to pass through the parking lot stage before becoming something new.

The location is awesome - is it naive of me to assume that a condo developer will build there? If they're selling warehouse condos on Avenue D for $400,000 and up, why not on 20th and Ave B? I can't assume it'd stay empty for long, if at all.

If the owner decides to trash it, that doesn't negate the property tax still owed, right? Maybe the city will be more willing to buy an empty lot than one with the current Barry on it, and with all the press of a rental shortage, maybe they'll work to fast-track some affordable rental units in there.

Is my head in the clouds? Or is it up my.....
