Another not so great Ottawa re-clad. Pic or the original, followed by 2017 attempt and finally the far worse 2020 paint job.

That is/was the standard colour scheme for the REIT owner. There's dozens of towers across Canada with that scheme.

Recald of a concrete late-70s, early-80s residential tower. From dellisd on Rail Fans Discord.

A few from Ottawa.

Compared to so many terrible re-clades and paint jobs at Lees, Centretown, Elmvale Acres, this is very well done.

Here's the 2007 streetview from the other side of the building.

Another is the old Trebla Building, renamed the Slayte, in the Escarpment District. Conversion from office to residential. With the right mix of tenants along the ground floor retail, it could help bridge the gap between the CBD and the slowly redeveloping LeBreton area, the Escarpment District being quite dead for such a dense residential neighbourhood.

Here's a pic from the front. "Framing" the building with the new material but keeping the concrete strips near the middle just makes this so much worse.

I wonder what the plan is for this area, I don't think we have any renders.

Does anyone know what's going on with the abandoned hotel? It's still red brick in the reclad renders. I'm assuming it's privately owned.

Ottawa's Downtown Marriott, opened in 1972 as part of Place de Ville Phase 2, has gone through a minor update. The brown pre-cast was painted dark grey. Burgundy paint added to the bands above and below the revolving event space windows. Pillars for the revolving bit painted dark grey. Top of the circular structure was reclad.

Recladding of an Iconic building in Edmonton. The Butterdome at the U of A is getting a 27milllion renovation.
The current paneling is rusting and leaking. Also no energy efficiency. After a lot of hours training in there over the years it will be nice to have windows.

Wish they kept the curvy bit at the top. Otherwise, not a bad reclad.

They had to many issues with snow and ice falling. That may be mitigated with a better insulated panel but the sidewalk was either closed or horded over every winter.

Thanks for the context. Fair enough.
