Good to see, and within a reasonable timeline.

Pretty simple, low key project (at high cost), but could still have an overall impact.

Looks like they are setting up another crane on the right.

Forgot to post these from the Perkins + Will project page (the refresh is a joint venture with Provencher Roy).

Images on contractors/architects website rarely live long and sometimes block hot-linking. Best would be to re-upload them to imgur.com

This is one of the most exciting projects in the NCR in my opinion. Gatineau will be far less...Soviet.... looking after these get redressed.

Why would they keep the block walls at the stairwells??!?

Every couple of years someone is up there doing patch repairs. Destined to continue forever and anon.

Why not at least get some cheap sandwich panels up there while it's easily feasible. Just to save a buck now?

Otherwise, I'm excited for these too!

What would be really cool is if they could somehow use those magic scissors to cut access under Laurier that leads out to the river.

The originals of the last of those can be found here: https://www.tpsgc-pwgsc.gc.ca/biens-property/construction/portage-eng.html#a2.2 - along with a few more.

They have a large mock up of the glazing up at the construction site and the glass looks really slick / high quality. What stood out was the etched barcode design that’s visible in the rendering both on the glass and the spandrel panels. I hadn’t really noticed that detail before.

The etched barcode on the glass probably has two functions;
  • making the curtain wall bird safe
  • replicate the heritage blinds that were removed

The far larger West tower is finally getting some attention.

I wonder what the plan is for this area, I don't think we have any renders.

I wonder how much it is costing to have flag people directing traffic at Maisonneuve and Laurier 7 days a week?
