I'm sorry, what does 7-11 have to do with this?

Whatnext's statement from December last year...

"Every time a downtown 7-11 closes an angel gets its wings. Add Timmie Ho’s to that list. The two are such magnets for deadbeats and disorder."

Not that anyone deserves to get attacked, but not all of these "unprovoked stranger attacks" can be random, no words exchanged, attacks. I'm betting most of the time there are words exchanged. Again, that doesn't deserve an attack, but I think the police are not giving all the details for some reason. I guess they are worried we will victim blame - "Oh, that person should have just kept quiet" , which is actually not a bad idea when you are dealing with drug induced brain damaged street people.

Avoid eye contact too. I agree the victims shouldn't be blamed, but there's a level of street smarts that will help you out.

Similar to defensive driving. You can be following the rules and get hit by an idiot driver, or sometimes you can be more careful and observant and not put yourself into extra risky situations and avoid collisions that still wouldn't be your fault.

Was true then and is still true now.

Weird how you can go past a JJ Bean or Sbux and there isn't a squad of junkies hanging out, yet walk by a Timmie's and....

Ten to one the young woman who got attacked said nothing. Maybe she couldn't keep the look of fear off her face when some crazy ranting bitch comes weaving down the street. Serves her right, eh?

"Witnesses told police the man was threatening passersby with an axe and smashing plates on the patio of the restaurant."

"Officers arrested a 29-year-old suspect at the scene.

Police say the suspect had injuries at the time of his arrest that required hospital assessment.

The man has been released on conditions and is set to appear in court at a later date."

keep voting for nasty leadership....

Perhaps he was unaware of the no-smashing-patio-plates-with-an-axe rile?

“We don’t vote for judges” is a cop-out. The federal Liberals amended and shaped the federal bail framework and the BC NDP runs the provincial justice system and prosecutions, so pretending elected governments have nothing to do with repeat violent offenders being released over and over is just dishonest.

Canadians need to take some responsibility for the consequences of the governments they repeatedly vote for.

Judges interpret the law, politicians make the law (at least in theory). The federal government just enacted stricter bail laws but I suppose this case didn't fall under the new laws.

Charges approved following four random assaults in downtown Vancouver

A 50-year-old man has been charged in connection with four alleged unprovoked assaults that occurred within the span of 30 minutes in downtown Vancouver on Saturday.

Shortly after 2:40 p.m., the suspect entered a business on Homer and Dunsmuir Street and allegedly began demanding money from workers and customers. The man allegedly threw an object, which struck two employees, causing minor injuries.

Immediately following this incident, investigators believe the same man approached a person walking on Beatty Street and asked for money. When the victim declined, the suspect allegedly punched him in the face before fleeing the area. Approximately 10 minutes later, near the intersection of Cambie and Cordova Street, another victim was allegedly punched in the face in an unprovoked attack without any exchange of words.

“These incidents are particularly concerning because they appear to have been completely unprovoked, and none of the victims had any prior interaction with the suspect,” said Constable Megan Lui. “Through extensive video canvassing and proactive patrols in the area, officers were able to identify, locate, and arrest a suspect closely matching the description given by witnesses. We believe there may be additional victims and encourage anyone affected by or who witnessed the incident to come forward and contact the Vancouver Police Department.”

Marc Ledoux, 50, has been charged with:

Two counts of assault
Two counts of assault with a weapon
One count of uttering threats
One count of mischief
Ledoux remains in custody pending a bail hearing.

Vancouver Police seeking help to identify assault suspect

Vancouver Police are releasing an image of a man suspected of assaulting a senior in Kitsilano in the hopes that it leads to an identification.

Police were called on July 31 after a 73-year-old man was allegedly assaulted by an unidentified man near West Broadway and MacDonald Street shortly before 4 p.m. Investigators believe the suspect was yelling at passersby when the victim approached him and asked him to stop yelling and move along.

The two men became involved in a verbal altercation, during which the suspect allegedly pushed the victim to the ground. The victim suffered head injuries as a result of the assault.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian man with a medium build. At the time of the incident, he was shirtless, wearing grey shorts and white shoes.

Notable since this was an explicitly violent crime, the suspect remains in custody which might be a result of the tighter bail requirements I mentioned?

Enough of the chaos. How much money are we spending on stuff like “harm reduction” and “safe supply” when it just comes back to bite law abiding citizens?

Man praised for stepping in after woman assaulted at Vancouver McDonald’s

A man living on the streets in Vancouver is being praised as a hero for stepping in to help a woman who was being attacked at a fast-food restaurant in the West End.

James Mickelson was getting his morning coffee at the McDonald’s on Davie Street at Cardero around 9 a.m. Tuesday when he said an altercation broke out between a man and a woman.

The man had been trying to access the washroom, police said.

“When he realized it was occupied, he became very violently frustrated, began kicking the door, and he threw his coffee. This coffee then landed on one of the victims,” Const. Tania Visintin said.

sadly the picture of him is gone, would like to see what he looks like when avoiding him in the very near future on the streets of Vancouver

when they do mugshots after an arrest, are they available somewhere to media at the least? I think it is time we start prominently publishing these photos.

Judges also interpret the Constitution, which is where this falls under.
