Jieyang, a prefecture level city in Guangdong Province, is located in the southeast of the province. In the 33rd year of Emperor Qin Shi Huang's reign (214 BC), a garrison was established at Jieyang Ridge, one of the five ridges. Later, Jieyang County was established, which was under the jurisdiction of Nanhai Commandery; In the second year of Shaoxing in the Southern Song Dynasty (1132), the newly established Jieyang County was merged back into Haiyang County; On December 7, 1991, with the approval of the State Council, Jieyang County was abolished and Jieyang City (prefecture level) was established, which governed Rongcheng District, Jiedong District, Puning City, Jiexi County, and Huilai County
