NYC from the farthest you ever saw

Haven't posted in years! Been taking care of some shit. Morris Plains NJ, watnong mountain.
approx 26 miles off, on a 30x zoom or so. MORE TO COME thru telescopic lense next month.

GREAT shot. I love distant skyline pictures. I wonder if it's the curvature of the earth or a change in elevation that hides part of the skyline.... probably both. I know the Chicago skyline looks similar (only see the top 3/4 of buildings) from almost the other side of Lake Michigan.

My only surprise... it takes you only 30 minutes to drive 26 miles into Manhattan???? Maybe at 7am on a Sunday???

The farthest view of NYC I have ever seen? I flew into Islip airport in central Long Island, NY, from the south and while landing there, I could see out my left window clearly. But with some squinting and the right lighting, I could see Manhattan. I saw downtown, a gap, then the ESB, then a smaller gap, and then the bulky wall mass of midtown Manhattan. NO doubts about it. I was amazed. It was incredible------a sight for those who have a keen eye and know what they are looking for. It was a good 40 miles away at least, I guess.

Very nice, but I have to say that it's not the farthest I've ever seen the city..

On my first trip to Florida we came down along the coast ( in a plane

) and I had the greatest view of Long Island and a bit later Manhattan in all it's glory from very far away..

Awesome looking city - I just had to visit a year later!

On the clearest of clear days you can faintly see the skyline of Manhattan from the summit of the mountains at the Delaware Water Gap (on the NJ/PA border, ~75 miles away).

I've seen Calgary like that, last fall. My friend took a picture but you can just make out the skyline. I think it was at least 150km away.
