Thanks for the photo update. Now I can update the top page diagram...... when I get the time. It may be slower moving than the rest of the supertalls, but at least it is moving and getting built.

Thanks again.

BTW, that maybe floor names, but it is not 75 levels on US6. They skip alot of floor names , but it looks more like 60 or so levels (75 floors) and 30 or so to the top of the glass. The bottom section goes to floor 12.

I agree.
What's weird is that so far, the super-columns don't seem to be linked to the core.

They probably skipped 4, and 40-49.

Schindler is setting new standards in the high-rise business

23. February 2006

Schindler will supply 83 elevators, including 40 double-deck elevators and 41 escalators, for the 490 meter (1600 feet) high International Commerce Centre in Hong Kong. Containing elevator shafts longer than any existing building in the world. Schindler secured this major order against tough competition because of its advanced technology and its ability to provide elevators that grow with the building during the
construction phase.

We are honored to partner the world-class team of developers, architects, consultants and building contractors assembled for this project. Having worked closely with the design team over the past years, we have ensured the latest technology will be in place to provide owners and tenants with the most efficient transport solutions for this vertical city», says Eric Darmenia, Project Director for International Commerce Centre and Group New Installation Director of Jardine Schindler Group.

490 meters (1600 feet) and 118 stories high-when completed in 2010 the International Commerce Centre will be one of the world's tallest buildings and the highest building in the city of Hong Kong. The skyscraper will be built by one of Hong Kong's most important investors and construction companies, Sun Hung Kai Properties Ltd. The building’s unique, cutting-edge design is by Kohn Pederson Fox Associates PC of New York in collaboration with local architect partnership Wong & Ouyang Ltd.

Prime address, excellent public transportation connections

The International Commerce Centre will stand at the tip of West Kowloon, overlooking enchanting Hong Kong Harbor. Union Square, the development of which the building is part, is located on top of the Kowloon MTR subway station and therefore has excellent public transportation connections. From here it takes only 3 minutes to Hong Kong Island and 20 minutes to the international airport.
The tower's architectural qualities as well as its exposed position are sure to make it one of the sights of the vast Union Square Development. Currently under construction and measuring 1.2 km2 (1.2 million square feet) it rivals Canary Wharf in London's former docklands. Union Square consists of residential accommodation, office buildings, hotels, shopping centers, and a large leisure complex. One of its major attractions is Asia's largest indoor shopping mall. Furthermore, the six-star Ritz Carlton Hotel will be located in the International Commerce Centre and will have its lobby at 425 meter (1400 feet) above ground making it one of the highest hotels within a building in the world.

State-of-the-art elevator technology in the International Commerce Center

«Schindler is pleased to have been given the opportunity to showcase our top-of-the-range elevator system and leading-edge technologies», says Toni D’Angelo, Director of the Top Range Team, Jardine Schindler Group. «Our innovative transportation systems will ensure the ultimate elevator and escalator performance in the International Commerce Centre». Schindler will supply 59 Schindler 7000 elevators, including 40 double-deck elevators, 18 high-speed elevators, and one heavy-duty freight elevator. With a vertical travel of 396 meters (1300 feet), the fastest double-deck elevator will have a speed of 9 meters per second. To ensure a smooth and fast flow for passengers, the Schindler 7000 double deck elevators will be equipped with the latest generation of Schindler's trailblazing Miconic 10 destination control system. Schindler will also supply 24 machine-room-less and low-speed elevators as well as 41 escalators.

Vertical transportation for the large number of passengers in the building will be mainly by double-deck elevators. With this type of elevator, two cars in a single hoistway are arranged on top of each other in a frame and often serve two floors simultaneously. This allows twice as many passengers to be transported as in a hoistway of the same size with only one car. This elevator technology in combination with the new Schindler Miconic 10 guarantees optimal and cost-efficient access to this landmark building. The double-deck and high-speed elevators as well as Schindler Miconic 10 will be developed and manufactured by Schindler in Switzerland.

A major challenge for Schindler will be the use of jump elevators. These internal builder's elevators will be used instead of builder's hoists on the facade. Called jump elevators, these are built into the existing elevator hoistways and «grow» with the building. Jump elevators are so called because these elevators «jump» in stages of 5 to 10 stories. The benefits of jump elevators are that passengers and light materials can be transported faster. The vertical transportation takes place in the core of the building so the building shell can be closed and protected against the weather sooner.

However, before the International Commercial Centre is inaugurated and the elevators run smoothly, Schindler still has to provide several challenges key services including professional project management and close collaboration with the customers regarding production, jobsite logistics and installation of the elevators and escalators. By meeting the high specifications for ride comfort and quietness in the double-deck and high-speed elevators, Schindler will set a new standard.

Silvio Napoli, Chief Executive Officer of Jardine Schindler Group, is confident : «We are excited to be a part of this highly prestigious project that is undoubtedly one of the world's most spectacular landmarks. Our excellent track record with other landmark developments shows we have the people, products, and know-how to make this ambitious project an unparalleled success».

I'm bothered by the dates, not the heights.
Is it really going to be completed in 2010 ?

Why couldn't they make it 2 meters taller? Then it would officially, not only honestly, beat out SWFC in height. No holes in this one.

A 10 meter increase would be even better though.

I'd say they're trying to, but they're keeping this on the down low. We have the same problem in Philadelphia, where the Comcast Center is almost a 1000-feet (975'), but hte reason why they won't extend it to 1000'+ is because of finances. I still have faith that teh Comcast Center will be over 1000'!!!

Transport connections to make ICC ideal offices for cross-border businesses with 60-minute direct link to Guangzhou

27 March 2006

International Commerce Centre (ICC) will set new benchmarks for design and quality, and its location just above Airport Express Kowloon Station will provide exceptionally convenient transport connections. The government is accelerating plans for additional cross-border rail connections, which will put ICC at the heart of a rail network and add to its attraction. The response to pre-leasing has been enthusiastic, with many potential tenants looking to lease an entire floor or more in this world-class project by Sun Hung Kai Properties.

Comprehensive railway network

ICC is next to the West Kowloon Station on the Kowloon Southern Link now being built, which will connect KCR's East and West rails when it is finished in 2009. The government is speeding up the KCR's Northern Link development and the proposed Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link as part of a master plan to increase integration with the Pearl River Delta.

Sun Hung Kai Real Estate Agency Executive Director Victor Lui said: "When the Kowloon Southern Link is complete, ICC will be at the juncture of three rail lines. Time is money, so ICC will offer the ideal location for cross-border businesses; both mainland companies setting up in Hong Kong or Hong Kong companies and multinationals looking to the north for opportunities."

Mr Lui added: "The Northern Link and Express Rail Link will connect the KCR and MTR networks, which will put ICC at the terminus of this express cross-border rail line, offering easy access to southern China. Shenzhen will be just 30 minutes away and Guangzhou 60 minutes from ICC. It will make cross-border transport more efficient and ICC tenants more competitive."

Comprehensive road traffic network

CB Richard Ellis Executive Director of Office Services Nigel Smith said that in addition to the easy rail connections, the government's highway network plan will offer direct vehicular access to the airport and New Territories, putting ICC in an enviable position. The Shenzhen Western Corridor linking the northwest New Territories and Shekou in Shenzhen will significantly boost traffic capacity between the two. A new cross-border coach terminus planned for Kowloon Station will give ICC tenants a full range of travel options.

Economic integration makes ICC ideal

Research and Consultancy Senior Director of Savills (Hong Kong) Simon Smith said: "Hong Kong's stock market is the first choice for mainland companies raising funds. The number of mainland firms listed in the SAR increased by 44 percent from 2000 to 2005 and their market capitalization grew 1.3 times over the same period. Mainland China is also Hong Kong's most important trading partner, representing 45 percent of total merchandise trade in 2005."

Mr Smith added that the days when businesses were concentrated on a few areas in Hong Kong are in the past. ICC is now widely recognized as having an advantageous location and comprehensive transport connections, and many leasing enquiries have been received already.

Mr Lui said that the overall economic growth worldwide, the Closer Economic Partnership Agreement between Hong Kong and the mainland and the new policy of facilitating mainland investments in Hong Kong will create new business opportunities. Mainland companies coming to Hong Kong to list and the expansion of multinationals and local companies in the Pearl River Delta mean that the demand for premium office space will be strong over the medium to long terms. ICC's convenient transportation is expected to draw tenants from the financial, accounting and cross-border trade sectors.

ICC will rise to 490 metres, making it Hong Kong's tallest building and the world's third tallest in terms of usable floors. It will also have the most advanced design and intelligent facilities. The 10th to 22nd floors will contain about 450,000 square feet of floor area and are scheduled for completion between 2007 and 2010. Pre-leasing has started.

They seem to boast the 490 m figure and 118 floors but both are wrong, aren't they ? (484 m and 118 pretended floors).
