Downtown and East Side:

Old Los Angeles to start us out with what used to be. This was before my time of course, but I do recall back in the 1970's and early 80's Broadway was full of pedestrians and the street was choked with mostly buses along this corridor.

Nice! It's pretty rare to see LA photos on the forum these days. Thanks for the collection.

Nice, it's surprising how there is a "west coast" look or feel, that's even shared somewhat with Vancouver, in spite of it having a different climate. The Gehry building is so recognizable too.

Great photos, Chris! And I love your coverage of the San Fernando Valley. We haven't been to the Japanese Gardens there in a long while.

I've only been to Vancouver once, and immediately I felt like I was at home. It definitely has a west coast thing going on that felt quite familiar. Vancouver felt like a smaller LA with cleaner and the city streets. I understand it's much gloomier than LA but during my visit it was quite sunny and warm, very much like how LA would feel in September. I did hear a lot of conversations around town saying this was a rather unusual weather pattern when I was visiting.

To me Vancouver has more of a PNW, midwestern or even east coast look about it....not sure if it's things like the angle of the sunlight, type of trees or style of bldgs.

btw, I've always liked your series of pics of LA....to me they give a more clear cut impression of a place. Coffee table picture books about cities...of LA or other cities too...often have so many pics that too generic, I'm never sure what place I'm looking at.

You got around. I totally forgot about the Japanese garden at supelveda. I haven’t been there in many years.

Yep, just random parts of town either with work or just out and about with the family. The Japanese garden is pretty cool, I just wish they stayed open a bit later during the week, I would love to visit more often, it just a nice chill space to decompress, and it's free and close to home and my office.

Thanks everyone for the comments.
