A developer with a few other major projects in the works is planning to build a 30-story mixed-use tower in the place of what's now vacant office space near Union Square, records show.
Victor Sigoura of Legion Investment Group, based in Rockefeller Plaza, filed plans with the city last week to construct 36 dwelling units — likely condos — across 108,772 square feet of space, with retail on the ground floor, at 5 W. 13th St., according to permits filed with the Department of Buildings.

Reason: title update to height as height was determined
Just for the record people - DO NOT - create threads with just a link.

This appears to be the STUNNING tower on KPF's website. It appears to go from 13th St to 14th St. Legion builds extraordinary developments, and as icing on the cake, they are demolishing garbage to build this.
Rising from a through-block site off Fifth Avenue between West 13th and 14th Streets, the 30-story building will offer just 36 grandly scaled, high-ceilinged residences, some with terraces, and sweeping views from river to river,

I am curious about how that base will turn out though. It looks significantly shorter than the older neighbors on both 13th aand 14th. I don't want it to leave lot line walls exposed and look like one of those ridiculous setback motels in the Garment District where the tower sits near the back of the lot and an absurd excuse for a base comes in the form of a single story or courtyard. They are abiding by a flawed zoning code formula, but there are solutions that don't result in the anti-architecture we see all too often.
Now this is a New York skyscraper. The proportions are great. Good height for that area as well. For Midtown, it would have to be at least twice as tall.

This building is a perfect example of how you can do a lot with a little. It's just at 117,000 sf of zoned space, and just 169,000 sf in total. (And a FAR of just 6.5)
Closer look, you get an idea of the wavy facade....
Not sure where they're starting the height from, but it's 500 ft either way.

Sorry to be Debbie Downer, but this is a streetwall killer. No matter how cool the architecture is we shouldn't be down with an anti- good urban design move like this.

Not thrilled. Not thrilled at all.
It’ll still be there, just lower. But if that still kills your joy, just walk down a different street. That way you can still admire what looks to be a very interesting building.
