WC towers are always going to be designed on a budget because they are for student housing and have a significant affordable housing requirement imposed by the City for the height bonus to 300'.

But we should be thankful because our student housing is still really well designed for what it is!

I agree.

I don't think WC towers will age well architecturally mid-term. But in 20+ years they will be a stunning example of that 2020s architecture that the Historic Landmark Commission will try to save when developers want to tear the towers down for those 600' towers that current in process zoning changes will allow.

The zoning change may come into effect soon enough to allow this and Ventnor to be well above 300’.

That's my hope too! WC is a much healthier rental market than downtown as far as I know.

Would they have to file for another site plan then or is the site plan just basically them stating "here there shall be a tower," no matter the specifics?

They would have to revise it for what is actually being built.

The site plan was updated today with project info. This will be 30-stories plus two underground parking levels and will have 212 apartments.

212 units probably nets at least 600 beds in west campus. Another pretty significant project.

I wonder if these will follow the yellow Monopoly property rents with this one being the least expensive.
