Best European Skylines 2026

In addition to the “Best Modern European Skylines” on the SSC, I would like to open a separate thread here,
which show the development of European skylines to the interested Americans/Canadians out there.

European skylines can be divided into 4 groups. The current number of completed and topped out skyscrapers 150 m/492 ft is shown in brackets ().
Manchester will move up to Tier 2 in the next few years. It is the fastest growing city in its group and the second fastest in UK.

Tier 1 skylines: (Booming cities)
*Moscow (130)
*Istanbul (52) [European part]
*London (43)

Tier 2 skylines:
*Paris/La Defence (24)
*Frankfurt am Main (20)
*Warsaw (13)

Tier 3 skylines:
*Manchester (9)
*Rotterdam (8)
*Madrid (6)
*Milan (5)
*Vienna (5)

Tier 4 skylines:
*Benidorm (3)
*Lyon (3)
*Basel (2)
*Turin (2)
*Limassol (2)
*Birmingham (2)
*Kiev (2)
*Belgrade (2)
*Barcelona (2)
*St Petersburg (1)
*Gothenburg (1)
*Rzeszów (1)
*Wroclaw (1)
*Malmö (1)
*Seville (1)
*Gdansk (1)
*Berlin (1)
*Sarajevo (1)
*Monaco (1)
*Bratislava (1)
*Bilbao (1)
*Bonn (1)
*Khimki (1)
*Rome (1)
*Brussels (1)
*Amsterdam (1)

Total (352)

Non-European cities that are located in countries that span both continents (Europe/Asia).
Istanbul is also listed here, as it is the only city located on two continents. Figures may vary here, as many of these countries do not provide accurate heights.

*Istanbul (76)
*Ankara (11-15)
*Baku (11)
*Izmir (9)
*Astana (8)
*Batumi (7)
*Yekaterinburg (3)
*Mersin (1)
*Almaty (1)
*Konya (1)
*Gaziantep (1)
*Vladivostok (1)

Total (486)

I'm commenting even though I'm not American or Canadian (I'm from Europe actually ), and I'd say the presence of Moscow is almost unfair to the other cities. It's the best one imo, as none of the other cities comes close in terms of height and I like the designs too (I could see myself picking a shorter skyline if I wasn't a big fan of these designs).

London also has some cool skyscrapers, like The Shard, Bishopsgate, Gherkin, or Leadenhall, and I'm a bit biased torwards Paris/La Defense and Frankfurt as I've seen them in person, but yeah, judging by the pictures, Moscow has got this one in the bag

(I'm focusing solely on the skyscrapers and not really on shorter buildings, otherwise other cities would make me think twice thanks to the presence of some beautiful historical buildings.)

I agree, Moscow is really on a completely different level. The city has as many supertalls as Chicago and more than Hong Kong.
And there are tons of projects in planning or under construction. If the city were located in the US, it would easily be in 3rd place.

London has also achieved impressive development. New clusters have sprung up everywhere.
In addition to the two main clusters City of London and Canary Wharf, there is also Vauxhall / Nine Elms, South Bank, Croydon, Elephant & Castle,
Stratford and so on. And the City of London will see some great additions in the coming years.

Yeah, and it seems set to surpass Chicago, both by number of supertalls and by total number of buildings above 150 m.

I think it may be a bit overlooked because most of the development is recent (most of their skyscrapers were built in the last 10 years or so), and because Hong Kong and Chicago, besides having older, more established skylines, also have two skyscrapers above 400 m each (well, that's if you include the Trump Tower's spire; I personally tend to measure buildings by roof height, unless the spire seamlessly blends into the design and isn't just a stick similar to an antenna mast), while Moscow doesn't.

It seems they've started construction on a 443-meter-tall skyscraper called One Tower, according to Wikipedia (I have no idea how reliable it is tho), so Moscow may really start to be seen as one of the world's main skyscraper cities (if it isn't already).

And this proposal with unknown height.
Oh ok, I didn't know about the height reduction. Wikipedia is outdated then. The design looks very interesting, but it also looks like one of those vision projects that never gets built, so let's wait and see what happens with this building. If they build it like that, it seems like it will be very massive not just in height but in width too!

I'll tell you what, the fact that Moscow is showing that big skyline off will not help the French change their minds about the so called dystopian aspect of skyscrapers.
It is too bad in my opinion, because we definitely need more high-rises in Paris in particular, but somehow, the architecture of a place is related to the policies it implements.
And Russia is actually an impoverished sorry country. Obviously, Moscow's skyline is only a smokescreen to flatter the establishment of their regime.
Thank goodness, folks in the Baltic states and Poland are far better off than impoverished people in Russia nowadays.
