Question How would the Electoral College look like if Canada was part of the United States?

Canadian here!

I think most of us all remember the 2000 election quite vividly on both sides of US/Canada border. With all the talk from President Elect Trump regarding Canada merging with the United States, I thought it would be interesting to map what the closest US Presidential election our lifetimes would have looked if Canada was part of the United States.

According to my calculations, Gore would have won the 2000 Presidential Election, and quite decidedly, had Canada been part of the United States at the time.

I think it's fair to say that in the long term, Republicans may not want any part of this idea of Trump's to merge our two counties. Democrats, on the other hand

Canada has long craved attention and recognition from the the US, as much as most don't want to admit it.

So while it's true that most Canadians do not want to merge with the USA, I think most Canadians are quite enjoying our 15 minutes of fame in the US news cycle at the moment.

Anyways, what do y'all think? Is this crazy idea floated by Trump something that people take seriously in the US, or do most people think it's just some outrageous negotiating strategy from Trump?

Either way, it's an interesting, throughout provoking discussion.

Cheers from the Great White North.

If Canada was to become the "51 state" it would roll up as around 58 electoral college seats, and Trump would be long gone next election. If Canada was added as 10 states, and the total was adding up to around 58 seats, Trump would still be gone next election.

I don't think Trump is looking to take over Canada by force obviously, I think he wants a more closely aligned North America with similar arctic defense and economic security interests, and it's mainly about keeping Chinese influence out of the North American continent as a whole.

I think he tends to say inflammatory statements because it attracts the media like flies to **** and they get people talking en masse about the issues he wants. It tends to work so it's a strategy he keeps using.

I can't wait for the morning I wake up to see he was found dead in his bed from choking on a Big Mac. I'll be one of billions globally celebrating that day and it can't come soon enough. Maybe then republicans will grow some balls, find their backbones, and protect the Constitution. In the meantime, if they could only be brave and work for the country and not the orange cult leader in the stupid red hat and stop treating him like a king.

Americans are running out of time to save their own country. If Frump gets his way, he will end global democracy. China and Russia must be loving this train wreck of an administration atm doing all the work for them to destroy America from the inside out.

I'm less worried about that fool trying to take over a country that hates him, than I am about the civil war brewing in your own country. Republican voters need to be vocal critics here if they truly love America. Otherwise, gear up for whatever it is his Boss Elon has planned for you, and it's not good. Just do a tiny bit of research on what he thinks the world needs. Trump supporters will not like what they learn.

Washington 2025 is looking a lot like Berlin 1939. Even the German people are trying to warn you right now.
