OMAHA | The Beam | FT | 16 FLOORS

16 story 261 unit cross laminated timber apartment building totaling $87 million was announced today for the Omaha riverfront. Additionally the colorful building will be a new home for the Omaha Children's Museum designed by Snohetta.

For context to downtown this will go on the vacant parcel of land on the right side of this photo next to the interstate ramp. Really good use of that small piece of dirt.

Adding an image looking westward as eastward images hide the building's true scale

This is great news! I hear Omaha has been improving its downtown lately while on the high-rise side there wasn't anything going on besides the new Mutual of Omaha HQ building. It seems like timber buildings are catching on as well.

Hope these high-rises can become a regular thing here in the future.

On the docs that went before the planning board, The Beam is now going to be 17 stories instead of 16, with 5 floors of parking and still 12 of residential.

Looks to be dead. Just getting a parking garage under the interstate for now.

The museum announced last year that it was pausing its relocation to 8th & Douglas Street. According to the City of Omaha, both projects are on hold indefinitely. The city plans to reimburse NuStyle Development for the sitework it completed including grading, sewer relocation, road work and design of a city-owned parking garage. The garage is anticipated to be built regardless of either project moving forward.
