1472 Dundas Street - 10s mixed use (Approved)

A 10-storey mixed-use apartment building with office/ground floor commercial uses, and 334 residential units is proposed on the north side of Dundas between First St. and Hale St.

This site currently has a couple of plazas known as "Eastown" which has many different stores (including Stoner's Grub House, Butterbites Cafe, etc)

Great proposal. Hopefully the proponent behind this is a real developer and not a land speculator looking to pump up the purchase price for the property. As I mentioned before the strip of Dundas St East is ripe for redevelopment with many underutilized commercial and retail properties that should be replaced with mixed use projects.

City planning staff is recommending that Council approve the zoning changes that would allow for this proposed 10-storey mixed-use building.

This goes to the planning committee on December 3rd and then to full council on December 17th.

LFP article on zoning application. As mentioned in the article the strip of Dundas St East is absolutely primed for redevelopment with so many vacant and underutilized properties that should be replaced with new mixed use residential developments in the future. Hopefully whoever this numbered company is actually has the ability to follow thru with the proposal and build it.

City still issuing business licenses for tenants here with the most recent one being in March 2026 for a body-rub parlour and one the month before for a nail salon.

This mixed use proposal is no where on the horizon.
