[BURNABY] South Yards by Anthem | U/C

South Yards is a diverse and vibrant 8.3 acre master planned, mixed use community located at the gateway to the downtown core of Brentwood in Burnaby. Comprised of 2,567 homes and anchored by over 60,000 square feet of retail and office space and a one acre community park at its core, South Yards integrates the urban, sophisticated and youthful energy of Brentwood with striking architecture, abundant landscaping, immersive indoor and outdoor amenities and inviting public spaces that have been curated to create a community hub centred around connectivity and lifestyle.
Built out over four phases, South Yards will offer 2,105 market condominiums, 120 market rental homes and 342 affordable rental homes across five high rise and three low to mid rise buildings. Sitting prominently at the intersection of Willingdon Ave and Dawson St, the towers will stand out among the growing Brentwood skyline with bronze, waved balcony designs and a community plan that instills a sense of neighbourly pride among all its users – homeowners, renters, shoppers, workers and visitors.

Excavation is underway. I a have also noted that there is a street construction for the future Juneau Street extension between Willingdon and Alpha Ave.

Okay, but what is actually being built? How many towers? How many floors?

It's the former Aoyuan project called "The Grove":

First phase is 2 towers, and it seems that Anthem is building them as was proposed by Aoyuan:

Assuming it's unchanged from the Aoyuan design, it's 36 and 43 storey condo towers on a 2-storey office and retail podium, and an 80 unit non-market housing building. Should complete around 2027.

Thanks for the updates. That stretch of Dawson Street is going to feel radically different once this is complete

Especially after Concord completes phases 2&3 and Dawson expands all the way to the Douglas Rd.

They have also changed the boards around the site, a whole new colour scheme and art, etc, and it says the next tower is coming soon.

Seems like they are going to have gigantic giraffe sculptures as their public art contribution going by the video on their site.
