763-769 Dundas Street - CCLC - 24s and 6s (Approved)

The Cross Cultural Learning Centre wants to build a 24s affordable housing building on the former site of the old hotel and bar which they have submitted a demolition request for.

They have a fund raising campaign on their website with some renders.

Housing fior immigrants but not for Londoners? If the Cross Cultural Learning Centre wants to build this project then fine, that is their prerogative but they shouldn't get one nickel of gov't money to do so.

The people who will live in this building have escaped war to become Londoners. I have personally taught many kids who have directly benefited from the CCLC upon their arrival to our city.

Check your privilege, sir. This site is for discussions about construction/projects in London - it is not a platform for racist or xenophobic rhetoric.

Spare me the racist crap. Refugees and immigrants are only people of colour?........Ukrainians would beg to differ.

I also didn't know that all Londoners needing affordable housing were white. It hasn't dawned on you that just as many racial/ethnic minorites Londoners need housing? Perhaps it's you using your racial bias that you don't consider such groups as "real" Londoners.

How about the both of you just stop, this project will help bring workers to London to help strengthen the economy and also at the same time give themselves a better life and will benefit London. Secondly, was not racist what was stated, there are many low income londoners that are minorities, so the both of you quit the BS and let’s focus on Construction and development, Thanks.

Before Braille User brought up race, my point was that there should be no housing built for immigrants using gov't money when there are Londoners already waiting in line. If they get it built thru donation then great but if they are taxpayer funded then it should be the taxpayers who benefit. In an ideal world that would not be the case but Canada's housing situation is far from ideal.

Do you object to companies like an old Oak getting tens of millions to build affordable housing into their projects? Like the refugees and low income londoners are all fighting for the same thing, it’s just that refugees are at a severe disadvantage often not even knowing English let alone how to secure housing.

It's all housing and this happens to be what CCLC does. This project will help pull people that CCLC works with out of the competition for the housing they currently are in. Thus also helping the "real" Londoners ssi is concerned about.

Activity on this proposal once again. Still a long road ahead for this agency to secure the funding to build a 6s building fronting Dundas St with a 24s tower behind that.

Would be great to see them pull if off but a lot of challenges to overcome.

Hopefully they are more careful with the design of the balconies, compared to what we have seen from the awful nearby Medallion buildings.

City planning staff is recommending that Council approve the zoning changes that would allow for these two proposed buildings.

https://london.ca/sites/default/files/20...763-773%20Dundas%20Street%20%28MH%29.pdf

This goes to the planning committee on October 22nd and then to full council on November 5th.

Hopefully the balconies will be better constructed, and there won't be the bedbug and cockroach infestation, like in those newish towers nearby. Oh, and cutting off the water for weeks too. And those elevators being shut down for hours and days...sometimes months. The list of problems is endless.

don't ever rent anything from Medallion Corporation
