Nice proposal and continues the pattern of low rise buildings.

There appears to be some preliminary site prep work underway here with some heavy equipment on site.

City planning staff is recommending that Council approve the zoning changes that would allow for this redevelopment.

Goes to Council's Planning and Environment committee on September 18th.

Vision and planning at its finest. The local red throated Nimbys are already squawking loudly about the proposal immediately north of this at the corner of Hyde Park and South Carriage Rd.

There is a community centre about 3km away. I agree that the area could use a new one, the existing one is lacking compared to a lot of the other newer community centres in the city, but this land does not need to be used for that.

We badly need a rec centre in the neighbourhood (which I live in). Almost every home is comprised of young families, with 2-3 children per household, but there has been no expansion of rec facilities despite the population explosion (aside from the addition of a very small 'parkette' on Coronation Street at Healy Rd.), in the 18 years that I have lived in this neighbourhood.

Looks like the City intends to move forward on this development soon... they are asking Council to pass a deeming bylaw which is needed before construction can begin.

https://pub-london.escribemeetings.com/filestream.ashx?DocumentId=116097

Quote:
[This would] consolidate four contiguous parcels of land into one parcel by deeming the subject lands not to be within a registered plan of subdivision. This action will effectively remove the lot lines between the parcels.

Deeming by-laws are often used to merge lots from old plans of subdivision that no longer meet current development or zoning standards.

The subdivision plan was registered on April 17,1989... At that time this area was still within the Township of London.

Signs of life on this proposal with a soil test drilling rig on site taking cores.
