yeah, madison's isthmus squeeze-play creates one of the densest little pockets anywhere in the region.
madison doesn't act "big city" over a vast area or anything, but for where it does, it does so convincingly.
core madison has ~21,000 people living in 3 census tracts all 3 of which are over 45,000 ppsm.
in total, those three core tracts have 20,846 people on 0.337 sq. miles of land, for an overall average density of nearly 62,000 ppsm, which is
crazy dense for the midwest.
