AHA! I KNEW this would eventually happen!

EDIT: Though at the time I worked for Hyatt (back in 2016), the rumor was it was going to be another hotel tower. Looks like that's gone the way of the dodo bird.

The view of the back of this project should help make those apartments a tiny bit more affordable

Interesting -- that's the parking lot just west of the Hyatt Regency.

Which would make this a S 1st address and not Congress, right? Very interested to see details if someone can access the article.

I think it's a pretty attractive building and would block some mediocre structures behind it. And the interaction with the trail is awesome.

That part of the trail is one of the worst. It's just not wide enough. Hopefully this project can contribute to fixing it.

I know I've posted this before but back when I worked for Hyatt (2016ish) there were plans drawn up to fill that lot with another hotel tower . . . and potentially either rebrand it along with the existing hotel as a Grand Hyatt, or just keep the Hyatt Regency and build a new GH. Either way, back then it was going to be a Wall of Hyatt along the lake.

This does not look like a Grand Hyatt to me, however.

Weird. From the renderings the lot looks a lot bigger. But from the Google maps birds eye view, it doesn't seem to be as big.

Also, that parking lot is used by Hyatt Regency's valet services. Not sure if that means much, just wondering if this is also owned by Hyatt.

According to the article, the Hyatt does not own it:

Planned just south of downtown, the 15-story tower — which is being named One Ladybird Lake — is one of two office projects proposed by Related Companies, a privately owned global real estate company that has $60 billion in assets owned or under development.

Related Companies told the American-Statesman it plans to build One Ladybird Lake on what is currently the parking lot of the Hyatt Regency Austin at 208 Barton Springs Road. Related and its partner in the project, Austin-based Christopher Investment, own the 3.3-acre site where the office building would be constructed, Related executives said.

The building would overlook Lady Bird Lake and be just steps from the Ann and Roy Butler hike-and-bike trail. The project is expected to break ground late next year, with a planned completion in late 2025.

422 on the Lake is proposed to be redeveloped into low income housing by Endeavor in order to appease the City and get approval for the 305 S. Congress PUD. This may explain why the 15-story building looks like Endeavor's 305 S. Congress tower renderings.

Love everything about the building except the green trim. It seems to clash.

BUt, it is sooooooo much better looking than that parking lot next to the Hyatt. I would assume this means the parking lot betweenthe Hyatt and the Embassy will become a parking tower, or maybe this will push the Hyatt into Expanding and buuilding a new tower with more room and elevated parking.

whoops. I haven't been in that area in ages. (I used to work at the Embassy Suites 20+ years ago, and actually lived a block away for about 3 years)
That parking lot is now a Yeti flagship store...

so now I have to wonder how the Hyatt will handle their parking situation?!?!?

It didn't exactly get value engineered. It switched to residential (1/2 Apt. & 1/2 Condo). There are renderings on the previous page in this thread. It still looks good IMO.
