Lighting of Skyscrapers.

idk if this is the right area or what but I wanted to talk about lighting systems on skyscrapers. Your favorites, interactive ones, Iconic ones, how do they affect the overall appeal of skyscrapers, festive changes, etc.

I think on a modern skyscraper a good lighting setup is essential to the feel of the skyscraper during the nighttime.
It can be subtle, it can be bombastic, but it has to be decent.
Something like Taipei 101's lighting scheme can be really good. Usually it's pretty subtle, complimenting the building. But during big events the entire building can light up everywhere they need it too.

A lot of San Diego's "skyscrapers" have vertical LED lights that run from top to bottom. It's nice to see some colors at night, but I still haven't decided whether I like it or not. One of the newer condo towers that opened this year added a red color strip down the side, going with some of the older condo towers in Little Italy Core Columbia area.

Interesting! I think the Turkish Consulate in NYC has a red strip that goes down the side of the building. I think it looks nice.

I think a simple strip of light can look good. Here's an example of two in Downtown San Diego, though I'm not sure if the red one is the same one mentioned by SAN Man. I prefer the single white strip of light on Pacific Gate, a curved residential tower right along the harbor (below)

many of Boise's buildings downtown have subtle edge lighting. during the holidays, most of the larger buildings have lighting along the top of the roofline, which looks nice.

the Zion building has LED along the edge that can change colors based on the season or event. it's currently lit in the colors of the Ukrainian flag to show support for the people of Ukraine.

SF has a fairly dark skyline aside from Salesforce with it's LED crown. The skyline does light up for special events like Christmas time. I've always enjoyed the Embarcadero Center and Transamerica Pyramid lights.

Not the biggest and best skyline by any means. But I've always thought San Antonio did a good job with lighting downtown. Especially the new Frost tower.

A bit Vegas gaudy but a lot of people seem to like it.

Coolest lighting I've ever seen was the projection mapping of the Cathedral of Learning here in Pittsburgh a few years ago. Wish it was permanent.

The Cathedral of Learning has terrible lighting at night, in fact theres hardly any. It could be so freaking cool at night if they had nice lighting on it.
