This looks so much like the tower at Division and Ashland in Chicago.

Agreed. Overall it looks kind of generic. It's okay for a filler project though. Greektown definitely has some gaps that could use towers like these.

Can't tell if the facade is concrete panels or some kind of metal. I think the former would end up looking nice.

*The $64.6-million development, called The Exchange, would be built at 338 *Gratiot on a half-acre site that is currently a surface parking lot.
*Construction of The Exchange is scheduled to start in December and the first housing units could be ready in February 2022

New Free Press article, says this could break ground as early as December, also has a rendering (below)



from the rendering (I could be extremely wrong here) but I think it is about 200 feet? give or take

Very nice addition. We can see the red crane at the right at the Hudsons site and the county building to the left across from which will be the future Monroe Blocks. It will be a very nice skyline...

The design looks really tacky, but beggars can't be choosers, and this is Detroit after all, so any construction is good news.

lol nobody is begging, demand for apartments in the central city is enormous. You're entitled to your opinion I guess.

Their website says this is a mixed use project (not sure if it has always said that, I know previous sources have described it as just residential), looks like the first floor will be offices and retail. Website also says they have plans to do an "alley walk experience" connecting Macomb street with the Gratiot Park/Randolph Plaza area that is being developed apparently? It also looks like their website has some new renders, I don't know when they came out, but they haven't been posted here yet:
