50 States and DC GDP Data Released for Q3 2018

Q3 2018 GDP data was released last month by bea.gov, and here is the 12-month state gdp for that time period.

Lots to glean here are as far as growth.

I’m still always shocked to see Mass has a bigger economy than Virginia, North Carolina, or Michigan. Especially Virginia.

Regionally, looks like the West is leading the pack in terms of % growth, followed by the South, Midwest, and East. Per capital #s are interesting as well.

I’m curious what others think. There doesn’t seem to be a strong correlation between GDP growth and population growth in many of these states. Any guesses why?
