FORT WORTH | Marriott AC Hotel | 185 FT | 16 FLOORS

Developer: Jackson-Shaw
Architect: Merriman Associates Architects
Type: Hotel
Location: Fifth & Main, Downtown
Construction Timeline:

Quote:
This fourteen story building will be new construction, to house a Marriott AC hotel. The hotel will have 180 guest rooms, plus restaurant, bar and meeting functions. A roof top pool/amenity deck will also be part of the hotel. Retail space on the sides of the building, at grade level, will allow for a retail link to Sundance Square, which is a half a block away. The modern design uses a combination of materials to allow the new building to blend with the adjacent historic structures. The side is very urban and is 60’x 200’ in size.

Some more info on this, across the street is an existing historic office building which is being converted to a 165 room Marriot Autograph hotel, so it's assumed that these projects are related.

This is the building being converted,

There's no timeline but it's been about a year since the first details of either hotel started coming out so perhaps something will happen soon.

Developer shows plan for 15-story AC Hotel in downtown Fort Worth

Quote:
Michele Wheeler, president and chief operating officer at Jackson-Shaw, said the company has the parking lot under contract and is conducting a due diligence review. She said the project is not a done deal yet and that issues surrounding electric utilities at the site have not been resolved.

Jackson-Shaw, though, received conceptual approval for a 218-room hotel Thursday from the Downtown Design Review Board. The developers will require other approvals to move forward with construction. Wheeler said there is no timeline for that.

AC Hotel, a brand popular in Europe, gets key incentive to build in downtown Fort Worth

Project Location

Quote:
Construction on the $68.5 million, 16-story AC Hotel on Main Street in downtown Fort Worth will begin mid-2018, the developer said Wednesday after a special taxing district approved a $4.1 million incentive for the project.

For a moment during the Downtown Tax Increment Finance District board meeting, though, it appeared the project might be derailed for lack of support.

At issue was whether public dollars could be used to pay for a transformer that Oncor electric utility requires for the building. In downtown, Oncor requires an electrical vault for the transformer and two back-up transformers in the case of outages.

Of the developer’s $4.1 million request, $3.1 million would be reimbursement for the electrical vault, which is typically built under the sidewalk. The developer will receive the money over 22 months.

The money will come from property taxes generated within a designated area downtown. The money is reinvested in development instead of going into the city’s general fund.
Quote:
The land has been used as a 32-space parking lot for the past 20 years. It will take two years to build, according to the developer, Dallas-based Jackson-Shaw.

The building will include space for shops and restaurants, meeting rooms and a rooftop patio. The project was approved by the Downtown Design Review Board in November.

Can you tell me where you found the 185 foot height for it? I'd like to update the building's database page.

FAA. John Roberts has 177' to the parapet on a design document, but that doesn't count the elevator overrun and rooftop mechanical.
