Cool mSe -------> L.A. <------- attle

I had an opportunity to visit part of the great LA Megaplex earlier this month. It was my first time since my last visit MANY moons ago.
This is not a mSeattle postcard tourism thread as I snapped what I could on the go (family events).
Anyway, I hope the home crowd and visitor alike are happy.

On the way to LA...

Dare I say that this is the first south LA photo thread on ssp, or at least the first in 5 or so years?

Such a pretty time of the year in Southern California, when the hills turn from brown to a bright green. Wish it stayed that way all year.

Cool thread, definitely in interesting choice of locations for LA that we don't typically see.

Love the freeway pics.

Southern California's old freeway segments are fascinating. These would never be built with today's regulations and safety standards.

Nice pics! Glad you made it to DTLA and Koreatown. 3/4 way down the thread I was beginning to think you never made it out of South LA!

It's very nice to finally see a thread that features areas off the beaten path. So many threads on SSP feature the same locations in LA that are just shot from different angles and with different filters. It is nice to get some photos of what a lot of LA looks like outside of the popular areas.

My Zipcar was soon to become a "pumpkin". Should I turn it in and just hunker down at the hotel all night?
Of course not! Any diehard "whole city" photographer would lose sleep to snap more shots. The car was exchange.
However, the night/marine layer/fog challenged, "Let's see what your tripodless, point-n-clicking self can do."

Thanks, everyone for your comments!
I did in fact want to see and photograph areas that seemed "off the strip."
But I also wanted explore some kind of everyday soulful L.A. as best I could, given the limits that were on me.

I did not want to have some of them (and the visual/experiential impact) "lost" by placing them into part 2, 3, etc. threads.

Excellent job!

That was the Coliseum at Expo Park (host of 2 olympic games, USC football and many historic events. Seating capacity is roughly 93,500)

The Rose Bowl is in Pasadena, which is roughly 10 miles from where you were.
