Great photos. This was always going to be a challenge for Beijing. Generally authoritarian governments and strong middle classes clash eventually.

kind of hard to take these people seriously when the're protesting under Giorgio Armani, tiffany, louis vuitton neon billboards, carrying the latest iphone ,ohhhhh the oppression when will it end...(I kid I kid)

Nice pics. Too bad I was out of town and missed it. There were 2 public holidays last week so the city was probably quieter than normal.

Good shots! May be it will spread to some Chinese cities....But I have heard the gatherings have weakened by now (at least I read that in the newspaper).

I was surprised to hear that it was the elders who are not in favor of the protests all that much. I thought it would be the other way around since many if not most of the protestors on the streets were too young to remember British rule up to 1997.
